Client – Journey Beyond
Eight semi-alfresco dinners over eight weeks at the foothills of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park. Who would take on this challenge? Oregional!
For December and January in 2019/20, the Great Southern Touring Rail, and its 200 passengers, stopped overnight in the Grampians to experience the region’s natural wonders, local wine and produce.
The visitor experience was designed by Oregional, Grampians Wine Tours and Journey Beyond, who also run The Ghan and Indian Pacific. Upon arriving, passengers enjoyed a guided coach tour to the scenic town of Halls Gap, from where they ventured to either Boroka Lookout to gaze across panoramic vistas or the iconic Venus Baths Loop walk that crosses over Stony Creek.
After taking in the breathtaking surroundings, guests were shuttled back to the foothills of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park for a three-course dinner in a beautiful marquee setting. Four wineries, local entertainment and yard games only added to the delight of crossing paths with kangaroos, emus and other native wildlife.
Oregional’s Director of Event Operations and Partnerships, Kate Kirkpatrick, led an A-team of suppliers and staff from infrastructure and caterers to marquee hire and entertainers and did a stellar job of showcasing all the Grampians has to offer.
